I’ve had a lot of incredible stuff going on in my life. I feel lucky. The past few years have been an incredible journey. In July it will be 3 years since I left my lifelong career to redefine my future. Those 3 years have been truly incredible but I have yet to define the identity I want now that I have left that part of my life behind me. I think it’s time.
The imaginegnat blog and Instagram feed have been with me for something like 15+years. That’s a lot of time. Just writing that shocks me. But it’s time to move on and create something new. Imaginegnat started before I rebranded Salsa to Adventure by Bike. Imaginegnat, along with my previous blog Gnat Likes Bikes, were the impetus to create a bicycle brand with a brand image around the idea that bikes and adventure made your life better. A brand that believed that pushing limits or pushing to self prescribed boundaries is where you find growth and joy. In many ways I believe I succeeded in doing that both in my career and in my personal life. I believe that the work I led with Salsa in the early days of Adventure by Bike changed the industry for the better. While the history is rich and makes me smile it is also limiting. It’s just time for something new. It’s time to embrace new formats, content and direction.

In a few weeks, I’ll share my new platform. It’s time I re assemble the puzzle pieces of passion & experience with bikes, photography, making things and art to create something new. It’s time to leave Imaginegnat behind and create something that reflects the future I want and in the way I want.
For some of you reading and potentially reading into my words, I am not working to create a new brand, at least I don’t think that is where this will end up. In fact, I am very happy where I am at working with good people in the bike industry in my consulting business and riding my Tumbleweed, Meriwether, Ibis, WHB & Knolly bikes. I also intend to further develop my Iceworm MFG brand with new products.
Regarding this site, I have years and years of content here. It’s also intertwined with my family and the journey of parenting. I believe I will archive a bunch of bike stuff on here and use this platform to simply share with friends and family. I think that’s the plan. More to come on that too.
A quick note on the image used in this blog entry. I took this image in Chicago a few years back while traveling with two of my closest friends and supporters.
wishing you the best as always….
