My ride with NCC

Last weekend I was down in Dekalb, Illinois on behalf of Salsa Cycles to support North Central Cyclery . That sounds a lot like work and technically it was. However, I try to find time to ride whenever I go on work trips.  Makes work not seem as much like work. This past weekend was no exception as I got two good rides in over 3 days. Not bad.

Saturday morning started out cool and early. Our group consisted of 20+ folks and then splintered into a few different groups. I had a blast. Rode pretty hard. It felt good. I am pretty sure I was the only guy on the ride carrying both a digital and film camera. No sympathy though as the tough guy award goes to Andy who rode his single speed Mukluk Ti 38 miles to the event, followed by the gravel ride, and then rode home! Regardless, I think carrying both cameras was worth it though as I got some good shots, at least I think I did.

A few folks that were on the ride expressed an interest in purchasing some prints. Let me just say that Tobie and I working on something pretty cool and you will see some stuff soon in both color and black & white that I will print here in my home and ship off too Dekalb for pick up. Just stay tuned. Both NCC and I will announce how to order prints when it is all ready.

Until then, here are a few pics from the ride.

Yeah, it was really that good. I know I posted a quick pic Monday and said Thank you boys. But I’m going to say it again. Thank you boys for the great morning.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning, with perfect weather, perfect roads, perfect machines, and perfect friends. I’m fortunate enough to have those conditions present with some frequency. The amazing thing is that Gnat was able to capture it in pictures. (I’m the skinny dude with a shirt wadded in his back right pocket). Thank you for the pics, Gnat. Thank you for the demos, E-Fred. Thank you for the Vaytanium’s existence, Salsa.

  2. Jason, It was great to get a chance to meet and ride with you and Eric, as posted above it was a Most Excellent morning! I ened up putting on 112 miles on the Mukluk, but honsetly felt like I could have done another 100 it was such a perfect day. I had to save some energy to make it back out for the movie later that night, which was awsome!
Thanks for letting my son test out the Beargrease, you have created a monster! like me with my Mukluk he is already trying to figure out how to buy one. thanks Andy

    1. Andy, thanks. Great to meet you too. It’s folks like you that make me see fatbikes in a different way. Thank you for opening my eyes as to just what a fatbike is capable of.

      1. Jason, I’m gonna see what the Mukluk is capable of this weekend, put some drop bars on it, and going to race it in the Masters 40+ class in the local Chicago Cross series. Single Speed Fat Cross! Andy

      2. Andy, I saw a picture of your bike with drops. It looks so darn good. Good luck. Thanks for the Gnome fest T as well. E-Fred got it to me yesterday.
