Signs of life

It’s been a little over a month since my last post. This last month has been insanely busy. I’ve driven almost 6000 miles. We’ve visited family in two different states. We’ve had our twins together twice in one month. I’ve eaten donuts. I’ve had a lot of coffee. I had my longest bike ride of the year. Although it’s been so busy I feel as though I have not moved on some of my personal plans and goals forward, it has been an incredible month in so many ways.

Before I get to sharing a bit more detail, I want to put a disclaimer out there. Over the last month I have passed through many cities and locations where I have both family and friends. I apologize that I was not able to stop, ride, hang out, or drink coffee with you all. We were both busy and focused on getting to our destinations. For example on our trip out west, the longest stay we had was in Salt Lake City where we had lunch and coffee before bolting from town (Sorry we missed ya AJ!). On the return home in Portland we were there one evening and one morning. I have too many folks to see or say hello too in this town yet we got busted by my friend Jack after visiting Keeper Coffee. Dang it. So sorry friends. Next time. I promise. It’s hard to travel when there are so many great folks in so many great places.

The center of the last month was driving our daughter to a summer course in California where she would spend a month getting certified as a wilderness EMT with NOLS. She also planned to keep a car with her out west so Jen and I experimented for a month with a single car. After our month as a single car family, Jen, Nate and I flew out for a mini vacation and a long drive back to MN with Nat and Nate from the Oregon coast (Jen flew home to work and take care of our needy pets). With the drive out and the drive back as bookends, it’s not hard to imagine that we were busy with life in between.

I don’t really have a grand story to tell today. Just a short story with some pics about a busy month and a big trip. It is a gift to be able to spend time with our family and our kids. As our twins become older, it’s becoming harder and harder to get them together so when we had the chance, we said yes. That is what is, and was, important to us this summer and throughout the past 5 weeks.

I hope you all have been getting out and enjoying the spring and summer. Hope you enjoy the pics. Click on any to go to slideshow mode.

In other news, I have been designing, sewing and learning. I’ll be making my 3rd camera bag for www.icewormmfg.com available later this month. Getting all trendy with a fanny pack. It’s a personal passion project as I haven’t been carrying a camera while mountain biking over the last year so hopefully I can start to capture some images from my mountain bike adventures. Stay tuned.
