Shameless Self Promotion – That’s today’s post. Some might remember once I posted about some words I got from Chase Jarvis. One of his old posts read, “Do what you love. Pimp your work.” Today, I get to share my love of mixing bikes and photography and at the same time pimp some of my work. Yesterday Salsa Cycles, my place of employment, updated their website and they chose some of my images for their page headers for their new bikes. Check them out and make sure you click the link above to check out Salsa Cycles updated website.

Crazy to think these trips and images are all in a 12 month span. Yep, it’s been quite a year and I’m thankful that I get to do what I do.

I can’t believe how fast these weeks are going by. It’s Friday and that means Friday Ride Stoke. This one comes to you from the mountains of Utah. I love this shot. I printed this in a 13 x 19 for myself.
I am working this weekend but should have the opportunity to shoot quite a bit. Hopefully I will have some good stuff next week. Have a great weekend.
I am settling back in from my trip up north. As I mentioned yesterday, I have a hard drive issue (It is full!) so I can’t upload my images from up north. I hope to solve that in the next day or so. Thankfully, I had scanned all my July film images prior to this. Today I bring you Ektar 100 in Utah.
I really liked the 1 roll I shot in June, so this month I wanted to shoot it again as I was headed to Utah for work. This was my first work trip that I carried film. I really wanted to see what the wide 21mm Voigtlander with Ektar could do out west. It did not disappoint. I really don’t have much to say about the Ektar. I like the rich and saturated colors. My only quibble is that it is a 100 speed film and my only lens is an f4 making it next to impossible to get anything very good in low light. But, I knew this going in and expected to be shooting it in full sun anyway. Hope you enjoy the pics.
More Circulus – I did the best I could with this 100 speed film in the low light.
Union Station – Ogden, Utah
Utah Mountains – This is what I had in mind when I planned on bringing film with me.
And my favorite shot of the bunch. I shot this looking out the back window of a pick up truck. We were headed up to Snowbasin for a day of riding, shooting and fun. Turned out to be a fantastic day.
Tomorrow’s Friday ride stoke features Ilford HP5. Don’t miss it.
Whenever I travel, I try to find some time to explore the community a bit. I like to head into the heart of a city or place on a walk or bike ride with my camera. No real mission in mind. I just like to see a new city and give my mind freedom to see and shoot whatever inspires me.
So one morning after breakfast I ended walking around Ogden, Utah and ended up at the Union Station train depot. The depot is really beautiful and has a bunch of old trains that you can climb on and explore. I walked in and out off all the trains there. I also spent time inside enjoying the beautiful and perfect light. I spent some time shooting as well. Hope you enjoy the pics.
And my favorite of the day. Being patient and waiting pays off.
Well, I made it back. What a week it has been. New bikes. New trails. New roads. New friends. I have a lot more to share but I haven’t been able to get my thoughts sorted. I may be back a bit later today or tonight with an updated post. Until then, here are a few shots from the week in Utah.
Yep, it was a blast and I got to shoot quite a bit. Great to be home though. More to come.
Just a short one today as I am finishing up some business in Utah before returning home. I am also headed out for an early morning shoot that I am very excited about. I have a couple of special spots scouted for a new bike from Salsa Cycles. Should be a sweet morning.
I will be back Wednesday with more words and images from my recent trip. I will say that I shot some really impactful images while in Utah, both personal and for work. I also shot some film. Should have lots to share starting later this week.
