Preparing for the next thing

Preparing for the next thing

This week markes my 17th anniversary of working at Quality Bicycle Products.  Crazy!  I remember going to work after leaving college and getting my first job in my field. I was doing food quality control for a food corporation.  Daily, I did food quality testing on exotic meats.  My secondary task was developing food preservatives for barbeque sauce.  I hated it and when my first opportunity to jump, I jumped. I went back to the bike shop and shortly after that, went to work at QBP. Seventeen later I am eager to go into the office and work on the next thing.  Seventeen years is a long time. So much longer than I had ever imagined.

One of the things that keeps me doing what I am doing is that every day, week and year are different. Opportunities seem to be everywhere. Some are within reach. Others will take some significant effort.  Right now, I am embarking on one of those that will require some significant effort.  For some landing here today that will make sense later this week. I’ve learned some things over the years. Too many things to list but a few of those most meaningful things are to follow your passion, dream big, try hard, learn from everything you do, give second chances and that it’s worth investing in people.

Well, I better get at it. I am working from home today and I’ve got a bunch of work to do.  Bring on 18!
