Crushing Gravel & Testing Gear

Crushing Gravel

This past weekend marked the start of the gravel racing season here in MN. While my friends were out crushing gravel at Ragnarok, I was out and about testing new equipment for my upcoming trip to Japan. I am narrowing in on my final kit for both bike and camera. I’ll then move onto camping gear, clothing and fitting it all to my bike.  Yesterday, I loaded up my camera kit into my back pack that I intend to wear. I know back packs stink for multi day tours, but I need to carry camera gear and I more comfortable with it on my back as opposed to bouncing around fixed to my bicycle. I wanted to get a feel for the weight and see if I could handle the weight of my kit on a moderately long day. I think it all worked out pretty well. I may get to my on tour camera set up later this week. We’ll see. I’m still tweaking my bike too. Once complete, I will share full details of that as well. I want to show it fully kitted out so it may be a while.

In other news, it was a weekend filled with art and creativity. Not only have I found inspiration for a long term photo project that I hope to exhibit one day, but my wife and I also went down to the Artcrank opening party on Saturday night. What an awesome time filled with good people and sweet artwork.

Well…It’s off to work for another busy week. I hope the weather works out this week as I have a scheduled day off on Friday and my intent is to go ride mountain bikes up at Cuyuna. I sure could use some of the red dirt of Cuyuna so please send the good weather my way.
