Art Changes Everything
So on Saturday night, I went to the Almanzo Party. What’s the Almanzo party? It is a fundraiser to keep the Almanzo 100 and Royale 162 gravel bike races/rides free. Salsa Cycles, my place of employment is a supporter of the Almanzo. It was also the release of Twin Six’s new Almanzo kit and gear. I ordered mine here. I couldn’t stay long, but I stayed long enough to have a beer, watch a few short films from Royal Antler , chat a bit with the fine folks that were there in support and snap a few pics.

Chris Skogen giving a short intro to the night. Here he asks the crowd how many have ridden the Almanzo already? I’m very pleased to say that in 2013 I finally get to ride this awesome event!
The event was held at Intermedia Arts in the uptown area. I’ve been by this building countless times but never been in. Really incredible space for stuff like this. Saturday night brought two of my favorite things together, bikes and art. Assuming Intermedia Arts will have our bike crowd back, I’m sure this won’t be the last time there is a bike event held at this place.
The following two images are my two favorites of the night.
The first shot is a bit different than my normal bike photography. I am getting more interested in shooting other types of bicycle stuff other than my typical out in the country style of shooting. I just like it. Given this was shot in near darkness handheld, I also think it turned out pretty darn good.
The second shot is a statement and declaration that I think matters. It is also a image that shows my two favorite things together, bicycles and art. I love it and printed it 13×19 for myself. I plan to hang it on my office cube wall once I get it mounted or framed. I also added it to the store because it is a lovely combo of bikes and art and spreading the message that art and bikes are powerful is meaningful to me. Click here to purchase one for yourself.
