A lonely jaunt in the woods
It was 10 degrees when I got up to ride. I thought of my friends in Alaska telling me 10 degrees is perfect for riding. Not too cold. My ride partner for the day had to bail as he was driving back to Montana earlier than planned. I wondered if others would show. It was cold and I was starting to feel it. Even the coffee didn’t really warm me fully. I knew there would be others coming sometime soon, but with no firm ETA I could not wait any longer. I hit the trail solo. I figured I’d be taking pics anyway and that they’d catch me. I saw a couple of groups of cross riders come through. They did catch me, but I ended up being on the wrong side of the river as I saw them cruise by in the distance. Being alone, I took a new route and meandered all over. I explored some new places and had a blast. In the end, I got about 3 hours in the cold along with some good miles and a few good pics.
But here is my favorite image of the day. I added a little texture to give it a bit more feel. I printed this one for myself and it turned out just beautiful. Exploring new places on my fatbike, or any bike, is what I enjoy the most.
Enjoy your week folks.

That’s a bummer no one showed Gnat, I would like to have gone out but I used all my kitchen passes earlier in the weekend. By the look of it, the solitude was just as good as a large group. Later DR
